How to Get More Coffee From Your Jura Coffee Maker

How to Get More Coffee From Your Jura Coffee Maker

It’s something we all strive for and want; more for less. In fact, more from nothing would be great, but we’ve got to draw the line somewhere don’t we? What if we told you there are ways to get more coffee in every cup by simply adjusting just a few settings on your Jura coffee machine?

Also, we share some top secret details for getting more of a boost from your cappuccino’s and latte’s as well. You can thank us once the caffeine has kicked in J

Jura Settings – Grind Size

Your grind size has far more influence on both the taste and strength of your coffee than you may realise (read more about it here); the longer your ground-up coffee is in contact with water, the longer it is able to extract as much flavour as possible. Jura has their patented I.P.B.A.S (Intelligent Pr-Brew Aroma System) which adds a certain amount of water to the coffee before it is brewed. Similarly, their P.E.P (Pule extraction Process) is the modern take on that technology – allowing for the same amount of extraction in half the time, by rapidly shooting through heated water into your ground coffee.

Now, no matter how far advanced Jura is with their technologies, there is no denying that the fine-ness (or coarseness) of your coffee grind level really is what determines the strength of your cup of coffee.

Be sure that your machine has pre-selected a product to make, and while it is grinding – change the setting. The setting of the fine-ness of your coffee grind can be adjusted by the rotary-style graded dial located (usually) next to your bean hopper, and is graded from fine to coarse. The finer you set the grind, the more aroma (including bitterness) will be present in your final product. The coarser the grind, the less aromatic your brew.

Play around with grind sizes and see how much the flavour of your coffee changes each time, and find the one you love best.

Jura Settings – Water Amount

You can choose how much water is dispensed when brewing your coffee – which is basically a setting for how much coffee you want dispensed into a cup. What most user do not realise however is that this greatly affects how much coffee you actually drink. Using more water will last you longer, so if you’re having anything other than an Espresso (which, by pre-set nature is 45ml), increase your water volume to get more coffee out each day.

Jura Settings – Cappuccino and Latte with More Water, Less Milk

The easiest way to get more coffee in a cappuccino or latte is to increase the dosage size of your coffee, which is then dispensed into the frothed or foamed milk. Adding more water will make your coffee go further and add to the volume of your cappuccino.

Just make sure to bring a bigger glass to work!
