Jura Z-Range Review – Jura Z6 vs Jura Z9
The Z-range from Jura is not categorically suited for homes or offices, but it is suited to style. The Z range, pioneered with the Z9 model, first came out nearly 5 years ago; we saw a sleek, gun-metal grey curved design come to life with one of the first TFT colour screen displays.
The fine foam frother also made one of its first appearances in this machine, along with twin thermo block technology to get your coffee hotter, quicker and for longer. But has the Z6 come along to dethrone it, or to complement it and walk by its side? We compare the Jura Z6 against the Jura Z9.

Jura Z6 vs Jura Z9 – Side by Side Comparison
They are undeniably close in terms of output and features, but a few standout features do make them either more or less suitable for various applications:
Firstly, comparing the water tank and bean hopper size (as they go hand in hand in terms of daily filling and maintenance) – these machine are practically identical. With less than a 100ml / 100g variance, both of these machines will allow similar outputs before requiring refilling.
When it comes to the grinder, the Z6 wins, featuring Jura’s newest technology in the Aroma G3 grinder; the Z9 still employs the “older” Jura technology and may not produce the moist refined ground coffee possible; if you are not a “coffee snob”, or struggle to tell the difference between grind size and how it impacts the palette, this is a minor difference which will likely not impact your decision.
If you like your coffee scalding hot, perhaps consider the older model – the Z9; it contains a double thermo block system, which allows for your coffee to heat up far quicker than it would with a single thermo block, as is fitted in the Z6.
For milk-based coffee drink lovers, both machines are equipped with Jura Fine Foam Technology, allowing for real preparation of latte’s and flat whites, where other older machines may be limited to only being able to prepare foamed milk, as opposed to frothed milk.
Lastly, the Jura App is only compatible with the Z6, the newer model. If you enjoy your gadgets, and being able to remotely prepare your coffee, remember that the Z9 does not contain this feature.
In terms of pricing, the Z6 will cost you in the region of $ 3 500.00 to purchase, and the Z9 in the region of $3 000.00
